Robert Moore has been an Information Manager since 2012 and has been involved in the AEC industry since 1995. His background is in the MEP sector, where he has worked for both design consultancies and install contractors in a variety of practice types, from small local firms to large multidiscipline multinational companies within Ireland and internationally in Germany, Australia, and the UK.

Robert has had an interest in Lean since working in a large semiconductor facility in 2012, where Lean methodology was part of the standard way of working. He now has a passion for reducing waste and adding value through Lean techniques.

Robert gained first class honours in his MSc in Construction Informatics has published three papers, two on information process standards and a third paper on the Irish digital transformation roadmap. Robert has presented at several conferences and events on the topic of Information Management. He was the first person in Ireland to receive the RICS BIM Managers certification.

Prior to taking up the role as Build Digital Project, Project Lead, Robert was working client-side in the public sector with the Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA).  He was the Information Manager and advised the Agency on the managerial and technical requirements for information management across the development of Grangegorman. Developing internal processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the agency, he worked with the supply chain to develop their capacity to deliver a quality product. He has developed the documentation necessary for the efficient and proper implementation of the GDA’s information management Strategy.

Robert is a current and active committee member of the National BIM Mirror Committee and authored CEN/TR 17654:2021 ‘Guideline for the implementation of Exchange Information Requirements (EIR) and BIM Execution Plans (BEP) on European level based on EN ISO 19650-1 and -2’. Robert previously participated as a Lean Construction Ireland (LCi) Leadership Group Member, BIM Innovation Capability Programme Client Working Group Member and Eastern BIM Region Steering Committee Member.

Dr Clare Eriksson, BSc MBA D.Phil FRICS. Head of School of Multidisciplinary Technologies
Technological University Dublin. Clare has successfully accumulated twenty years of postdoctoral experience working in senior management in academia, private sector and professional organisation. During her career she has held a number of board roles and positions of responsibility across many industry sectors including charity trustee and director, Chair of General Practice Division of Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, school governor, and journal editor. Clare is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Board Member of the European Real Estate Society, and serves as theme F project lead on the Infrastructure & Projects Authority Project X Research Board (Project X (bettergovprojects.com).  Clare served on the UK Governments Research Excellence Framework (REF www.ref.ac.uk) assessment 2021 as an assessor on panel 13 for Architecture, Built Environment and Planning.

Dr. Joe Harrington leads the School of Building & Civil Engineering at Munster Technological University Cork. The School collaborates closely with industry across its wide-ranging construction-related provision. Joe also leads the Sustainable Infrastructure Research & Innovation Group (SIRIG) at MTU Cork which has been successful in attracting significant National and International funding. He currently leads the EU-funded SURICATES and Phos4You Projects. His specialist areas include Infrastructural and Technology Developments with a particular focus on the Water Sector within the Built Environment where he has published widely. He is a Chartered Engineer and a fellow of Engineers Ireland. 

At Munster Technological University (MTU), Ted lectures in structural engineering design while he is also the BIM & Digital AEC Programme Lead.  Ted is a charted structural engineer (CEng MIStructE) with a 20+ year career that is divided between time in professional practice and time in academia. Ted continues to work on educational programmes which endeavour to prepare students to thrive and realise their potential in the context of interdisciplinarity and Industry 4.0, while his work with professional practice follows a similar ambition.

Dr. Mark Kelly is the Head of Centre for Sustainability in ATU and the Build360, BIM Futures and InSite research group lead in the Department of Building and Civil Engineering. Mark has over 20 years’ experience leading applied research in construction and demolition waste management, resource efficiency, the circular economy, BIM, and education for sustainability. He is also the programme coordinator for the M.Sc. in Circular Economy Leadership for the Built Environment in ATU.

Barry McAuley is Assistant Head of School of Multidisciplinary Technologies at Technological University (TU) Dublin. Prior to his current position, Barry spent a number of years working in the AEC sector, which enabled him to develop his managerial skills through employment in a selection of diverse roles. To date, Barry has been involved in both National and International research initiatives and currently serves on a number of journal editorial boards, scientific committees, and industry panels which has enabled an active channel of communication between the Irish AEC sector and academia. As a result of his research to date, he has had a significant body of work published through a combination of industry reports, conference proceedings, and journal papers.

Dr Ciaran McNally is a lecturer in the UCD School of Civil Engineering. To date he has won almost €2.5 million in research funding and has coordinated both European and national research projects. His research covers a wide array of materials, including concrete, asphalt and digital construction, and he has published over 100 peer reviewed papers.

James O'Donnell joined Mechanical and Materials Engineering at UCD in 2013. Prior to this appointment, he worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). His current projects are in the domain of energy informatics, with a particular emphasis on the development and deployment of interoperable solutions that support multi-scale building energy modelling and analysis. In addition to technical research and consulting, James teaches modules on building physics and building energy modelling. Previously, he taught courses at Stanford University, National University of Ireland Galway, and University College Cork. He is an editorial board member for the Elsevier journal Advanced Engineering Informatics.

Derek is Senior Lecturer and Researcher in the School of Engineering at Waterford IT. He is a graduate of Civil Engineering from NUI Galway and holds an MSc in Civil Engineering and PhD in Energy Management and Engineering from Trinity College Dublin. He is Chair of the Pyrite Resolution Board (PRB) and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the PRB. He is Director of Lean Construction Ireland, a community of learning and practice that advocates for the transformation of the Irish construction sector through the adoption of Lean thinking and practices. Derek is a Judge for the Irish Construction Excellence Awards and is a member of the Southeast Region Committee of Engineers Ireland.

He regularly leads industry-focused academic research projects and supervises research at Master and Doctoral levels. He is an advocate of sustainable business development through organisational productivity and performance optimisation, high-performance leadership, sustainability and ESG reporting, low carbon, and digital innovations. Derek’s research interests include digital construction project delivery, Lean, operational excellence, the circular economy, and transition to a low carbon economy.

Ken is the Head of School of Engineering at WIT since 2012. He has over 30 years engagement with the broad ‘Build Digital’ agenda, Ireland and Global. Completed PhD on “The exploitation of ICT in the Irish AEC Industry”” in 2002. Co-founder and Director of the Construction IT Alliance (CITA) and Director of 3DWIT Additive Manufacturing Training Centre. EU Expert Evaluator for Eco-Innovation and INEA-H2020-Transport calls and current member of the EU CALOHE2 Project for Civil Engineering. Research interests include Digital Construction, Knowledge Management, Sustainable Cities, Work Integrated Learning, Global Engineering Education and Accreditation.
