Information Manager (BIM) Role Profiles

Build Digital, the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), and the Infrastructure Division, Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation (DPER) are delighted to announce the launch of the Information Manager (BIM) Role Profiles — a key milestone in supporting the implementation of the Irish BIM Mandate under the Capital Works Management Framework.

As we progress Project Ireland 2040, it is clear that delivering infrastructure is not just about investment — it is about productivity and capacity. At the centre of this is people.

These role profiles provide, for the first time, clear and consistent guidance on the competencies, experience and qualifications required for Information Management roles across the project lifecycle. They recognise that Information Management is not simply a technical function, but a critical governance and assurance role aligned with ISO 19650, Uniclass, IFC and ICMS.

Developed in collaboration with Build Digital, the NSAI, and the Infrastructure Division, DPER, this document supports:

  • Public bodies in recruitment and capability building

  • The private sector in benchmarking and aligning roles

  • Education providers in developing targeted training pathways

A sincere thank you to all partners involved in bringing this to publication.

This marks an important step in building the digital capability required across the sector and ensuring that Ireland’s infrastructure is delivered with greater transparency, consistency and long-term value.
